The astonishing fact about this whole problem is, that there is no error handling implemented for a file which is not even crucial for the functionality of the systems.
Hopefully it is now in the top 5…
Be that as it may, good software should not allow an entire device to get crippled when a file related to a limited function gets corrupted. I still believe Garmin software team is utterly incompetent…
Interesting, wonder if it could be related to decommissioming sat. SVN45 (PRN21) yesterday and an invalid CPE having been generated:
I live in Germany too and my device was broken.
I can send you those two files which caused many people around the world to suffer data lost.
All you have to do is to connect your Watch to PC and copy those two files to GARMIN\RemoteSW folder.
As for test - hope this should be safe now.
You can connect your Phone to PC and use Garmin Express to sync your Watch?
At the same time have open File Explorer and watch this GARMIN\RemoteSW folder.
I guess you will see two files GPE.bin and GPES.bin
If you not unplug cable and kill, not only close Express app you should be able to delete them to be extra safe. I can tell you that earlier today when I have boot loop I have also Ephemeris: Current message. Unfortunately I cannot say what was during boot loop, but I guess something else.
Garmin has deployed new version of those files which fix problem, but I guess there will be changes in next FW too, to prevent this from happening again.
And you have synced with mobile all the time?
I have training today and my colleagues also were not affected, but all of them has told me that they did not sync with phone since yesterday. But I did in the morning around 8:00 CET
People from my country are also affected by the problem. Generally, it's all speculation. Garmin developers should clarify this, which of course does not mean that the real cause will be published.
No, thank you ahonestly I'm not interested in wasting time and risking investing in the problem that hasn't affected me. That's Garmin's job.
But of course I don't deny that the EPO was responsible. I just expressed my doubts.
I started the activity around 10:30 UTC. Watch was connected to WiFi and to the Phone via Blutooth all the time. I also had the Connect App opened before, but of course I cannot say if it synced exactly this files before.
Another option is that the broken file versions were not released at the time when I was starting my acitvity.

I am super interested in these files, I could not find them on my device. Can you PM me?
I would also be interested, maybe I find some spare time to have a look at it I would also happe to get a PM.
I cannot PM you. Your Privacy is too high. Request Friendship with me. I do not want to post those files here on Garmin Forum.
My thoughts are that problem is related to Chinese New Year ;-)
Happy New Year of the Snake
