FV 16.17 - Steps, heart rate and calories not working

Yesterday, my watch suggested to update to version 16.17 which I did. After the update I noticed that neither steps, heart rate and calories were functioning. Not in day-to-day mode but also not in the run sport mode.

I tried a reboot, soft reset and hard reset which deleted all my settings and activities. Nothing worked so far. I tried to connect my watch to my Macbook to try to go back to the previous software version but the watch won't connect.

So this leaves me with a watch that isn't really functional for now. Luckely, the external heart rate monitor works so workouts are still doable.

Anyone with an idea? Garmin?

  • Hi - Just an update. I took the FR955 to repair. Unfortunately I hadto replace the integrated circuit board. It cost about 1/3 of the watch :(

The technician informed that there was a change in the type of solder (lead-free) in the x45 models to the more recent ones, which made the models more delicate in the event of an impact or fall, causing particles to generate a short on the board.

  • My heart rate monitor stopped working after receiving software updates almost every single day, sometimes multiple times a day (seriously Garmin ?).

Its sooo frustrating, this device should be more reliable. Its not cheap at all, and we should expect more from it...

is Garmin loosing it ? No sense to pay a premium price for a watch that does not allow me to workout properly/ monitor sleep/ etc.

  • Frustrating. My 955 stopped monitoring my wrist HR (the green lights in the back suddenly stopped working). This happened after multiple daily system updates (sometimes more than once a day!) - Seriously Garmin, what is the matter with your app/system ??? (and yes, I have tried all the resets/ changes in settings/ apps/ other recommendations).

This is a premium watch that makes me insecure about monitoring my training/ sleep/ etc.  With marathons lined up I think I should start considering other brands...
