Heart rate drift

So over the last few weeks with 12.23 I've been noticing my HR has been creeping up into random numbers as the run goes on.  Does this happen for anyone else?  On a rainy day this was even worse (though the band is very tight).

Manual measurement shows HR like 100 but it was showing 150+ on the watch - even went to 171.  This was a problem on earlier garmin watches but I haven't seen this yet on the 955 until now.  I'm loosing faith completely.  Anyone else? should I open a support ticket or is this "normal for garmin?"

Edit to add image:

For reference a run like this pace should be 120-130 bmp as it was showing for the first 13min.

  • Do you mean that stopping suddenly while running quickly and erroneously displays a fall in HR as the readout is actually the cadence?

Sometimes, I've even had to pause my run and watch the HR dramatically drop back to a warm-up Z1-Z2, then slowly enter the run again.
  • I'm having the same issue on 13.21. Hr normal for first 15-20 minutes then just kind of stuck in 150 range (my green high aerobic zone) even slowly jogging downhill. pause to clean and manual read confirm I'm not crazy then starting back up, getting same under reading for several minutes. had this issue with early software on 745 that was fixed but never on 945 lte (both same elevate 4 monitor) so know that it is not an issue with sensor reading / tightness etc. just installed 13.22 so will see if that helps.

  • I've been having this problem for months and Garmin claimed it could be a one-off problem with my equipment. I ran the Marathon with heart rate at 180 BPM. He was wearing the Polar H10 strap and the Garmin team said the problem could be in the polar h10 equipment, but it worked normal on other equipment. I notice that more often on cold days.
