(solved) TopoActive Europe 2021.10 Maps too big!

the new TopoActive Europe 2021.10 Maps is too big! 9GB?

It's a Forerunner with limited memory. What shoud that? My memory is now completely full.
An MP3 album now only fits on it. Garmin has messed up with this update! The clock has just under 15GB.

Try this otherwise you have the new watch already unusable:

I have just fixed the problem.
My "fenix 6 Pro" could not update the maps.

An old piece of advice from the naviboard.de forum helped…

We all know that Garmin's times to solve SW bugs are biblical, we wait without installing the maps, by now I never install a SW that has just been released because there may be these hidden problems and…

Had this problem yesterday evening when I updated the newly purchased FR945 - annoying. I come from the FR725 and hoped that G will do their basics now - ok, disappointed again.

An old piece of advice from the naviboard.de forum helped me.

1. connect the watch to the computer.
2. Delete all *.img files directly via the file system in the "Garmin" folder, except for "gmapbmap.img" and "gmaptz.img".
3. disconnect the watch from the computer and wait until it displays the normal screen.
4. Reconnect the watch to the computer and update with Garmin Express.

This method actually deletes the currently installed maps and reinstalls them fresh. This worked very well :)

Not at all, I always follow the Fenix6 forum, our 945 is very similar but they receive the updates before us, consequently they also dealt with the bugs introduced before us and often find a way to fix them, when possible.

I installed it yesterday fine, today I have map update that says it's too big. Looking at Basecamp I have 2021.10 maps installed. I could delete and remove it but then Basecamp would use HOURS AND HOURS to do "Initial setup for the map", which uhoh, no thanks.

Also it seems that I can't manage to update my other map that is updated in the Basecamp to 945 anymore, it doesn't find the device. Also it nags something about reduced speed..

So dunno that's happening here. Don't know is the map on the watch, will need to let the Basecamp do it's thing first.
