Suggested workouts - is this normal?

I decided to try out the new suggested workout feature. My plan is to follow the suggested workouts for a couple of weeks just out of interest.

I'm on day 3 and so far I've had the same workout suggestion 3 days in a row. A Base run of 31 minutes.

7d Load is Optimal. 759 (559 - 1258 Optimal range).

4w Load Focus shows Anaerobic Shortage. Low Aerobic is towards the top of the Optimal Range. High Aerobic about mid range. Anaerobic below optimal range.

Body Battery at 100 after waking up, currently 94 during the morning.

Training Status currently Unproductive and says lacking anaerobic activity.

Given all of the above I'm unsure if this is normal or is something broken with suggested workouts? I've been expecting it to suggest an anaerobic workout?

I'm on the 5.30 firmware.

  • Today with 5.50 I finally got something else than Rest even the recovery was pretty small. And yes, got sprint today :D Didn't do it as had 3h rogaining on my schedule.

  • Here's what my second week of workout suggestions looked like. I completed all to plan.

    Mon - Recovery (23 mins)
Tue - Threshold (10 min easy, 18 min threshold, 10 min easy)
    Wed - Rest
    Thu - Base (28 mins)
    Fri - Rest
    Sat - Sprints (3x3x15 secs)
    Sun - V02 Max (9 x 2 mins)

The Friday Rest day confused me. Recovery was at 0 hours fully recovered.

Sprints followed by V02 Max intervals was fine but also seemed a little odd going from 3 easy days (Rest, Base, Run) to 2 workout days.

I updated from version 5.30 to 5.50 on Saturday after the Sprint session.

Training load has been dropping (Average 50-60km a week usually). First week following suggested workouts 38.5km. Second week 31.7km.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to suggest longer aerobic runs or not. My base run suggestions so far have only been short runs, either 28 or 31 mins. No long run suggestions. Interested to know if anyone has had long base run suggestions?

I'm not ready to switch to a proper training program at the moment so I think I'm still going to follow suggested workouts for a few more weeks to see what happens.

My thoughts so far are some of the workout suggestions are quite good. It appears to be quite conservative with training load so far. I'd love to see improvements in the future where you could set your preferred day for a long run and maybe workout days too. And going further perhaps schedule in races that it could suggest suitable workouts leading up, and taper and recovery.

Essentially I really like the concept of workout suggestions based on your performance, training history and recovery. Take it a couple steps further to include your race goals and training day preferences and it could be the perfect way to train year round.

  • Hi! little bit weird as well for me that according your plan, suggested you 2 rest days between a base run and after a during the weeked you have high effort runs like sprint and Vo2 followed after each one. Which suggestion did you get it Monday after the sprint and vo2? thx

I'm back to short base run suggestions.

    Mon - Base 31 mins
    Tue - Base 31 mins
