Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_487Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. From the RemoteSW folder in the unzipped download, copy the GUP3114.GCD into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder on your device.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-440.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-440.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  6. To downgrade your peripheral software, place the GUP3114-401.GCD from the RemoteSW\Downgrades folder into your device's \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder.
  • Those interested in version changes:
    CIQ 3.1.7 => 3.2.0
    BMX 0.5.2 => 0.9.0
    WHR: 20.04.70 => 0.09.00 (This is pretty weird:)
    Sensor Hub: 4.01 => 6.04

    Firstbeat
    ETE 6.6.3.0 => 6.6.6.0
    THA 2.1.1.0 => 2.1.3.0

  • Widgets now look much better Slight smile

  • And first impressions from the couch:
    At least the boot up time with the maps I have is faster. It used to be minute, now it's 43s where loading maps takes 20s.
    No change to that pressing start from the watch face takes at least 4 seconds.

  • Come on what it costs you to put the power manager? At least tell us if it will be implemented in the future, please.

  • Pleased with this update so far. General UI and UX is greatly improved and everything seems a lot quicker so kudos to the Garmin dev team. It will be interesting to see how the battery performance and activity tracking is. Hopefully this becomes a reliable and stable release version.

  • Great that forum is back again!

    Those of you who has put on the new beta. Do you see any improvments of OHR? 4.40 had problems with displaying randomly very low or very high HR in resting. Also after the activity, lets say you started walking without starting walking activity, watch could show that hr is 65 bpm for quite long time (my watch "record" was for 5 minutes) until it started showing correct hr.

  • Nice to see to newer Weather widget has also made a reappearance

  • When you saved after the Popup, Recovery HR was written into the fit file. GArmin connect is unable to view it since years. Really old devices like FR110 are already saving it.

  • Now I'm not sure how it works :D Tested it.. It shows timer until the recovery HR and then shows it and you need to go back and select save.. Dunno will it write it to the .fit, most probably, but I don't see how this is improvement.

    If it would be "Recovery HR & Save", then yes, but now, I just don't get the use case. Maybe before it was lost if you didn't see the popup, but that option could be available after the popup also.. If the popup doesn't automatically come (didn't test, but that is what philipshambrook said) it really doesn't feel like improvement..

  • WHR: 20.04.70 => 0.09.00 (This is pretty weird:)

    It can be developed completely from scratch new WHR driver which maybe also fixes OHR sensor cracks that occasionally happen on some units
