Why is offline music useful in a smartwatch?

I usually take my phone with me on my runs (which last a max of 1h). I have Spotify premium and can download music on my phone to listen to it offline.  So I am wondering why offline music is useful at all in a running watch. What are some appealing use cases of this feature?

  • I rarely run with my phone for most shorter runs, because it's big and heavy.  I occasionally do for longer runs.  With that said, even using music on the watch, the battery life is more than enough for my current long runs.

Music on my watch isn't a must, but a nice to have convenience so I don't have to run with my phone when I want to disconnect from the world.  The routing and navigation is more valuable to me.
