  • Just a few comments

GPS accuracy will not be as good as x35 series due to the new (downgraded) chipset. Really hope Garmin either sorts this issue or move o a different chipset in the new generation...

Garmin Pay is not supported by any of the banks I work with (in 3 different countries - USA, Brazil and BVI). I do hope they improve this as it would be a nice add-on!

I've also had buttons solved after having my 945 replaced from rev A to D. Lesson: never by a Garmin 1st revision watch...

  • Now I know why my VO2Max seems stuck forever... Garmin what are you doing???

  • I have very good experience with the new GPS FW. I did some loop running in deep forest and track is very repeatable now. I used only GPS. Well done Garmin.

  • I love the usabity tests on users :D and wonder if there are even unit or integration tests for the FW... great regression tests here...

  • Thank you, Stanislav! But as I was so slow to check your comment I noticed that Garmin has changed the beta to 4.41. Do you still have the 4.29 beta? Is it possible to upload somewhere for download? I would be very thankful. But if not, well have to hope that Garmin fixes the beta on final release:)

  • Hi , 4.29 Beta is still downloadable from here: https://download.garmin.com/software/Forerunner945_429Beta.zip

You can get 4.20 firmware from that archive and downgrade your device as I have described earlier, just remember that all device settings will be reset to default, and I also have done master reset after downgrading just in case.

At this moment I've upgraded to 4.40 again to give it another chance, but I'm facing erratic breath readings and sleep data is often incorrect, which hasn't happened on previous version

  • I was very annoyed about this firmware rollout because it installed even though I had deactivated the software update on the watch!

So I ask myself, why can you deactivate the software update if it is useless?

The GPS installation did not work right away, but now everything works fine for me, the problems posted here do not occur to me at all.

Only the battery consumption is higher on some days, even after a hard reset, but otherwise I am very satisfied, as with FW 4.20

  • Agreed, gps tracking is defo a lot better!

  • Mine has updated today, and a few times previously - albeit falling like a brick :)

  • That's amazing mac, thanks for sharing.  My wife and I are going on a long hike in the woods this weekend (25k; doing it for a virtual race, LOL), and I'm looking forward to comparing the track to previous hikes/runs we've done on the same trail with older versions of the 945 firmware for comparison.
