Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_429Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  4. Reconnect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  5. From the RemoteSW folder in the unzipped download, copy the 006B310705.GCD and GUP3114.GCD files into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder on your device.
  6. Again, disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  7. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-420.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-420.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  8. To then downgrade your peripheral software, place the 006B310700-290.GCD and GUP3114-320.GCD from the RemoteSW\Downgrades folder into your device's \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder.
  • I noticed a new bug in pool swim custom workouts. If you create a repeated interval with more than one item, and you write a comment to each of them, the watch shows only the last comment. The comments of the other items in the interval are not displayed. Could you guys check if you experience the same? Thank you in advance!

  • Only in swim or also in other sports?

  • Ok, I have done some more tests and I think it affects only swim workouts. In the first iteration of the repeated interval, the comments are all present. However, in the second and further iterations the comment is missing from the rest screen, where it used to appear. Disappointed

  • So appear in the popup at the beginning of the rep but not in the rest page?

  • Thanks for the update! Hope this maybe also fixes the sometimes weird behavior of Timer. I use the Quick Timer quite often, and after a number of days Timer becomes very slow, has delayed reactions to key presses, and screen updates are infrequent (it doesn't update the screen every second, but every 4 to 5 seconds). After rebooting the watch, Timer is fine again. Memory leak?

  • I noticed a bug in that after my run or viewing my history my run map is white on the watch. Zooming out shows the roads but not my route. I updated my topo map after installing the beta and that could be the issue. If someone could view their run on your watch and let me know if you can view your run route.

    thanks

  • I installed the Topo and later updated to Beta 4.29. I used the Last Activity widget and viewed a run recorded earlier today.

    My route showed up Red.

  • Thanks, I reinstalled the topo maps and now my maps show up properly. When I turned off the watch and turned it on, it took forever to load the maps, figuring this was the issue I re-installed the maps and the watch works properly now. I wonder if the topo maps got corrupted with the beta?

  • I don't usually install beta's but GPS improvements sounds too good to be missed. First thought about only installing the sensor firmwares, but as one don't really know how they would work with the old firmware, let's follow the instructions and install all.

So let's hope some noticeable improvements :D

  • i'd say :-) - hold your horses :-). here are 2 tracks recorded today (and i actually i opened a ticket with garmin as well) - the 920 tracks more nicely:

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4705852423 - 920

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4705838008 - 945

my personal oppinion - the 920 / 935 were from a gps performance perspective 2 great watches.
