  • Fix swimming cadence/stroke rate
  • Improvements to PulseOx settings
  • Various fixes for ConnectIQ

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_272Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. In Forerunner945_272Beta, go to the RemoteSW folder. Place the GUP3114.GCD file in the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-270.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-270.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. To revert the RemoteSW, place the RemoteSW\Downgrades\GUP3114-230.GCD in the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • If WHR in the water cannot be made to work reliably and accurately then there is no point in having it, whether as a choice or not. Bad data is of no use to anyone despite what some people think.

We disagree with that. I´d prefer having it even is not perfect. We agree that OHR is not perfect even for other activities like biking. I noticed some times when i´m riding fast (and my heart went fast too) the watch said I was warming. And I´m not the only one. We know that due to vibrations, position of the watch, colour of skin, hair...  just don´t work accurately. And no one is saying that is better to disable it because "bad data is of no use". Ok, in watter is more difficult, that´s right. But anyway I´d prefer having the choice to turn it on or off than directly don´t have it.

It´s no so complicated. Apple watch have this feature, so is Polar or Suntoo. Why not Garmin?

  • Probably a rookie question - but how can I get my Garmin to show up in my "Finder" on Mac?  I'd like to try the beta, and the folder doesn't show up in the Finder.  I tried to show the root for the \GARMIN folder, and it won't show either.  It does, however - show up in Garmin Express just fine.

  • Interesting, if anything mine seem to average a bit lower with the OHR than with the chest strap. I ended up not doing a swim at all unfortunately. I am going today and will borrow another watch to try and record both at the same time. Today's a pool swim, so it should be interesting to try and work through the intervals on two watches at the same time Thinking

  • You have to install in your mac an app like Android File Transfer to see files of your watch.

    Hi guys!

My FR945 Firmware is from Asia do you know if possible to install this version? Or another version to active the wrist-based heart rate for swimming?

I bought this FR for this functionality and tried to install but without success.

    Thanks.

  • Quietly impressed with the OHR for swimming ( I did tighten the watch up to hopefully help) but compared the same work out to one done on a 935 with HR Swim 3 months earlier with very similar results. Average was within 2 beats (945 lower) and max within 4 beats (945 higher), the 935 swim was done marginally faster.

  • Indeed, at least in my swimming sessions this is reflected perfectly: I get a maxHR of around 158-160 in most of my swims (and and average value of 130), and I get around a maxHR of 175 when running. Again that's my case and it seems to work fine with me but, the best method to check your own HR values while swimming is to take manual HR measures between series: counting your HR beats for 15s and multiplying them by 4. Doing this I've checked that my 945 is measuring my HR fine during my swimming sessions. I will advised philipshambrook's wife to try and check it manually, maybe her real HR figures while swimming match with her watch even if she thinks they're too high, but again maybe not. My point is just that it's easy to verify whether it is correct or not. (it only takes 15 seconds).

  • My case is 100% as you've described: Not good for cycling, good for running and really good for swimming.

  • Anyone else having problems syncing multisport activities? Tried both connect app on Android and WiFi. Oddly the middle "strength" activity appeared on Strava on its own but not in connect.

Going to plug in and try express on windows in a while

Edit: Tried Express and direct upload and the file is "corrupt"

I'll send it to the beta feedback address in case it's not just random cosmic rays

I had quite a good experience with OHR (Scosche R+, R24)next to watch during swimming, which gave me good HR data. Last week I bought F945 and today installed 2.72 beta. I was just shortly in the pool in the afternoon, but F945 swimming WHR seemed OK for me (it responded well to my effort and numbers seemed to be correct). It is so far just subjective, but I hope to test it more next week.....
