Caution: Alarm working only randomly since SW 2.7

Unfortunately, it’s not the first time that the alarm clock isn’t working properly after installing a new firmware. With SW 2.7 a back-up for the alarm makes good sense if you don't want to oversleep. Mine started 8 min later than set and with sound instead of vibration. And yes, I did a hard reset after installing SW 2.7.

  • Hold Light button until watch turns off, about 10-15 seconds. And then press Light again to switch back on.

    No data will be lost.

  • Actually, anything in memory not synced can be lost. I've done this myself a few times. Watch lost a couple hundred steps or a few calories. Now I make sure to sync data before doing the hard reset.

  • Ok, good point. Did not know this. Never cared about steps or calories outside my workouts.

  • As an update, if you're still having the problem on the latest SW: If you are using a PC and Garmin Express to charge/sync your device this might be the reason for the Alarm problems.

I charge and sync my 945 via pc. What I do is connect and sync while it charges. I then connect and sync my old 935 (true-up biometric data) and wear that while the 945 charges. I do that whole process in reverse when the 945 is done. A couple of things happen, at least for me.

~The 945 locks up on loading maps after disconnecting from the computer

~I have to do a hard reset to get it back to loading properly

I'm mentioning these parts because somewhere along the way that might be the culprit, might not be. All I know is if I don't try to set the time with GPS after this process, my next morning alarm goes off whenever it feels like.

I fix it when it occurs, but I'm now starting to notice the GPS sync, graphically at least, seems frozen and not actually syncing the time (before you'd at least see the circle graph around the edge turn yellow, it's just stuck on the red 10% part).

The above thing just happened to me this morning. I just set the time with the GPS, perhaps as a precaution, If you sync/charge the 945 on the PC and use Garmin Express with it after it's full, sync the time with GPS.
