v13.30 Battery Issues

Following on my previous thread regarding v13.0 battery issues (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-935/160979/v13-0-battery-issues-during-indoor-cycling), I upgraded to v13.30 but with no improvement.   I see sudden drops in battery from a healthy level like 70% to 4% on the start of an activity, like trail running.

Today, I tried running with a battery attached, it still went crazy on the battery level, even shutting down.  Many times after rebooting, it shows a more proper battery level.  All of this started with the v13 series of SW.

Opened a support ticket 3 weeks ago on this and haven't heard anything.  It is now so disfunctional that I might have to revive my 310XT, just to workout!

Battery life outside of activities appears to be weirdly short too, but I see others are having this exact problem in the Fenix 5 forum too.

I am going to reset to Factory Defaults to see if that will improve things.  Will keep people informed.

Former Member how is the result of your reset

am not happy with the battery drain on 13.30...more a gut feeling than empirical proof Wink

and the gut feeling makes me unhappy with 13.30

no crazy level changes but higher daily drain than on previous firmware versions

Factory reset feels like it changed some of the behaviors but didn't fix the major issues of either it instantly claiming it was at 4% battery though it isn't and shut downs after activities.

    Former Member sure you can

but only firmware, not those from ant/ble or sensor hub

    ...

    ...

For downgrade to work you need a special firmware from a beta zip file

use this to downgrade Forerunner935_12.85Beta and downgrade with GUPDATE-1250.GCD

remember to turn off Garmin Express or any means by which Garmin could give you the latest firmware

garmindevice.xml is created by your watch every time you connect it to a computer through usb

you can make garmindevice.xml read-only after you get to 12.50
