Golf activity: Activity with average HR, training effect, and route not created

Has anybody else used 935 for golfing?

Last summer, actually 14th of July 2018, the 935 stopped creating the activity for golf rounds. Occasionally, randomly, and I have not been able to figure out the proper use case which is causing this. It sometimes works and now this week failed twice (Fri, Sun), but not even in consecutive rounds. Same course, kept score. I did have a round in another course on Saturday and that naturally changed the course in watch and had to keep the Garmin Connect open when starting the round.

I am getting the scorecard and the autoshot is detecting the shots, but not the activity with route, training effect, and average HR. Not a big deal overall, golfing is not sport in 935/triathlon perspective :) but annoying anyway. HW has been replaced last autumn and same behaviour continues this spring.

I use it for "middle of the green" distance only. That's all I need.

  • Yes, I agree, that is the most important. The features during the golf round do work fine. The issue exists if you would like to have the golf round in calendar as an activity, similarly as the running activity. I have added the golf round/activity manually when the failure occurs.

  • Next strange thing: When I enter the golf activity manually, the source will be "Edge 520 - 0.0.0.0". I do not have that Garmin device.

  • The issue seems to be related to scorecard/keeping score. If I do not keep the score, the activity is always created. Saving the scorecard somehow disturbs the activity saving.
