Navigating a course

I used my 935 to navigate a course today. I found the map-view pretty useless. It showed me only where I had already run and a little arrow indicating which way the Watch wanted me to go. That arrow was not to much help as it seemed to to whatever it liked.
With my old 310XT, I could at least follow a Little bread-crumb trail on the map. Is that not possible with the 935?

Oh yes, when starting the course the device restarted itself. That kind of thing makes me feel it is a bit unreliable...
  • Yes, it should show the course.
  • I have experienced a crash when following a course so it is not unheard off. I have always created my courses in Garmin Connect. I would like to think that would not cause the problem. I have mys suspicions that leaving the device on for days on end might not be a good thing. Now, before I go for a run following a course, I do a hard reset - press and hold power button for 15s (no data lost). As a result I’ve not experienced a crash for a while.

As an aside, depending on the length of the course, it can take some time for the course to load. And in answer to the OP, a ‘proper’ course will be visible on the device as a breadcrumb trail. It is easy to follow and easy to see when the direction you take is different from the one programmed.

The course was created by importing a gpx file into GC and sending it to the device from there. The course looks good in GC and also when looking at it in the device before starting it. The link is here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/18928429

I guess I'll have to try again. Maybe the reboot caused the lack of the breadcrumb as well.
