Why did I bought a Garmin Forerunner 935 ?

Hello everybody,

I hope that my first post will not be encountered with repulsion but I am more than frustrated with my forerunner 935 watch. A short history, my first sport watch and I do running and cycling.
I have the following problems with my watch, which I see that are quite common :

- The altimeter is way out of reality. I did all I read on the forum and I always have to fix it by calibration via GPS.
- The OHR I use it instead of the HRM-tri band. Guys, I did the same training and the difference between the strap and OHR is from 8%-15%. So all the data that are recorded while I am not using the strap are bad for my status. Also, I don't want to speak about download the heart rate...I am just wondering if my RHR is good considering that like I saw during activities differences can be up to 15%.
- GPS is quite precise but it needs improvements.
- The buttons are working very bad.

About this topics, I read all the posts from the forum with a lot of things that you have to do to recalibrate it and a lot of excuses about the "system", but for a watch ( I have the forerunner 935 tri-bundle ) which costs 840$ in Romania (december 2017), excuses are not welcomed.
Just imagine that 485$ is the medium wage in Romania and I paid 1 salary on this watch.

Opinions?

  • Send it back. You've identified all the main failings with the device.
  • Hello philipshambrook,

Thank you for the advice. The only problem is that I was not expecting to encounter so many problems with a watch with the "prestige" of Garmin.

    Regards,
  • An alternative view:

Altimeter. What are you using the data for? You could always enable elevation corrections if you want basic data.

OHR. If it is an issue then just use the strap

GPS. what error are you seeing? If it's within 1-2% then that's normal. What problems does it cause you?

Buttons. What do you mean by bad? Do you ever get no button press registered or double clicks? If not, and it is just 'clickiness' then just look at the watch when you press the button so you can see the result of the press so you know you have pressed it.

If that above is too much then,as Philip says, return it.

For me, its the best watch on the market and if you search you will find every watch has things people will complain about. For me, all the issues you have pointed out do no detract from it's usability. (saying that, I have no altimeter issues at all, OHR is fine, GPS is good enough and I don't mind the clickiness of the buttons)
