Forerunner 935 Battery Drain

I received a 935 from Santa for Christmas and very nice it is too...however, the battery drain is excessive. I followed the set up instructions and everything seemed to work ok but the battery ran down to 0 within 12 hours.

I thought this was perhaps due to sitting for some time without use but on each successive charge it has drained at a similar rate.

I have performed a soft reset, hard reset, factory reset but to no avail.

I have turned off practically everything so that it was functioning as a watch only but again no difference to the battery life.

I let the battery drain completely and then charged over night, no change.

I uninstalled GM and started again and followed the set up process, no change.

Anyone have similar issues and/or know of how to defeat this or is it a send back job??

Any assistance greatly appreciated

Cheers

  • That is not normal. I would return it to wherever it was purchased and get another one.
  • I've taken your advice and returned it, will be sent away for fixing/exchanging and will hopefully not be too long. Back to the trusty Polar in the mean time!!
  • Hmm. My local retailer would have given me a new one there and then. Make sure you get a new one back. Garmin tend to supply refurbished watches to replace ones sent back.
  • Thanks for the heads up. The retailer's policy is to return direct to Garmin and unfortunately they didn't have any 935's in stock to exchange, plenty of Fenix but the 935 seems to be quite rare in NZ at the moment.

Surely it wouldn't be ethical to replace with a refurbished watch, especially as this one was brand new?
  • It might not be ethical, but Garmin have been known to do just that. Unless they are told otherwise, how is Garmin to know how old the watch is when it’s returned? Unless of course they take the time to look up the serial number...but I wouldn’t count on it.
