Trail Running Accuracy

After coming in significantly short on my last 10k trail race, I switched to GPS+GLONASS and enabled 1sec recording. Although a different trail than the 10k the tree cover was pretty thick and it was pouring rain. Maybe ignorance is bliss but I'm very happy with how it looks.

Overall distance is largely unaffected by 1sec or Smart recording, however track displayed is usually better with 1sec.

Oh interesting...maybe first go wasn't as bad as it appeared then?

Am running the same route again on Friday...will disable 1sec and see how it does

My understanding that it shall help.
GPS is amplitude coded signal (similar to AM band in radio) and it does suffer from both tree coverage and rain as signal gets weaker. Glonass is frequency modulated system that is better on this conditions (though has its own demerits obviously), so two of them should form a good combination.
have totally no idea of how garmin devices/ mtk chips inside process this two sets of signals.
Also have no idea of satellite location over area you're in
