Forerunner 935 - Rash caused by the bracelet

Hello,

I've purchased a Garmin Forerunner 935, and I intend to use it 24/7 has an activity tracker also.

Nevertheless, the stock bracelet is causing me a rash on my wrist, has you can see in the photo.

In the past I?ve used 24/7 a Garmin Vivofit and more recently a Garmin Vivosmart HR without experiencing any issue.

Does anyone have experience the same rash?

Thanks,

We would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support with any concerns of skin irritation while using any Garmin wearable. Please contact our Product Support teams for direct assistance.
  • I've had issues like this in the past and have since moved to swapping out bands between exercise/every day wear. Let's the bands and my wrist completely dry out which seems to help
  • That's my solution. In order to get good WHR output you need to have the band relatively tight. If you don't thoroughly wash and dry the area under the band after exercise all sorts of grot can accumulate. It might help that I'm not too fussed about non-exercise data so I keep my band loose throughout the day, only tightening it if I am going to use WHR for an activity.
  • I started wearing mine on the left wrist during the day and on the right during the night after I experienced some very light skin irritation when I first got the 935 a couple of months back. I like to have the watch fairly tight to get good HR data, which of course means the skin under it never gets a change to recover and dry properly. Swapping the watch over during the night sorted that.

Forerunner 35 same issue all the way around my wrist. Had a discussion with Garmin Fitness customer care....not a good experience. I presented the info and as soon as I pointed to other reported cases on the forum, the rep started raising his voice, became combative and defensive. Garmin needs to look into why this is an issue. for every case reported on this forum, there are probably 100 that aren't.

100 to 1? You really think so since you were the first to comment since September 5th on a thread that had 4 people discussing this topic? I understand some people have an allergic reaction to silicone bands, but in most cases it's the strap rubbing from how it's worn or from sweat or dirt accumulating under the strap. If this is what's happening to you, you can change out the strap, wear it differently and keep it dry and clean. What is it that Garmin needs to look into and fix?
  • At least he must have searched first, which is a pleasant change.

My take on this is that these devices require to be worn much tighter than we used to wear them in the past. That and the move away from leather or steel bands to synthetic materials increases the possibility of a reaction. If the strap is not loosened for days, then it is a perfect breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria to accumulate.

I spoke to someone at Garmin Fitness. The guy got angry with me when I brought up the fact that others have posted on the forum with similar issues with the same or similar product.
