Forerunner 645 Music Distance/ Pace Inaccurate

Lately(Sept month), I found my running distance quite inaccurate. The running distances(of course pace also affected) that I participated in the running events were found to be extra long. Yesterday, I participated in the international marathon even and ended up with  44.46km distance and due to that my pace also affected result my PB. In actual fact, it was not my PB. How could this be rectified? Can someone share such experience lately?

Thanks

CK

  • Yes, I have similar experience. My latest marathon (AIMS), 44.21 km. Newer had such issues with my previous watch, Forerunner 210.

I contacted local Garmin service team and they suspected it was "environmental factor" such as high rise building surrounding covered during our running route or GPS drift. They suggested to change the setting GPS+Glonass to improve the tracking accuracy. Anyway, will try if this will help but again I don't understand same marathon event that my friend did not encounter such problem or even not with me before lately incident.

  • There wasn't very high buildings. I have had same issue few times before. Have used GPS+Galileo or GPS+Glonass.

  • +1 to this since around September 19 - pace consistently wrong by 10-15 seconds per kilometre, GPS taking longer to acquire, and drops our during running. Have tried GPS, GPS+GLONASS and GPS+GALILEO, Galieo the best of the three (but nowhere near as good as it was three weeks ago and consistently giving too slow a pace).

I'm having a similar problem and no high buildings.  Periodically I am getting a green triangle symbol as well

  • Exactly the same. I know how fast i am running and garmin records give or take 1 minute slower. I think it is something to do with towpath now covered with full tree leaves etc since when no trees on ath pace is recorded quicker. However, today i raced an activity (5k) and my pace was recorded / mile 9.34, 8.38 and last mile at 7.43. I finished at least 200m short of usual finish place but distance recorded was 5k (3.12m)????

  • I know the original posts was two years ago.  Any update?

My recent two marathons had the same issue.  It was very discouraging especially for the last segment.  When my Garmin told me that I only had like 3 miles to go, the real life actually still had near 4 miles to conquer.   Those were internationally certified distances and no high rises to block GPS signals.

  • I let Garmin know my concerns from above again after doing what they tested and they simply sent through a return authorisation for replacement. I wasnt able to replicate the issue with my replacement Forerunner, so it seemed to be a faulty model.
