645M vibration suddenly much louder and "looser"

After several months of normal use, the vibration feature of my 645M has changed. Has anyone else experienced this? It occurs whenever the watch vibrates (alarm, lap notification, phone call notification, etc.)

What was originally something I'd describe as a firm or tightly discreet vibration (similar to an iPhone) that only I knew was happening, it is now a loud rattle that can wake my wife in the morning or cause others in a meeting room to take notice of the sound. It sounds like something is loose - almost like the device is shaking apart from the inside.

Thoughts? There was no incident, drop, knock, that I am aware of. It just started happening one day recently. Oddly, the change corresponded to a marked increase in the time it takes to lock in a GPS signal and the time it takes to sync via BT to Garmin Connect.

Same problem here, the vibration sounds broken. I've compared my 645 M with the one from my coworker, his does not has the problem (both with firmware 6.20). Probably my watch has to be replaced by the Garmin support, has anyone already tried this?

I'm in the process of having it replaced for this issue. I'm not sure if they are aware of a batch of these models with that problem, and they are confident that the one they send back will not eventually present the same issue, or if it's just a hope that this won't happen again. My watch has been fine for two or three months, until it started having that noise.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes, but it could be that the new one works fine for a few weeks and then it breaks again... I guess we can never know! Also the one they send back should be a refurbished one.

I contacted Garmin customer support and I have mailed my 645M in for replacement. Remains to be seen if they replace or try to fix. I'll let you know what happens

Hi, I had the same issue with vibration after 2 months of usage. I sent watches back to shop and garmin (Slovakia) replaced it. So I have new device.

Same here! Since a couple of days the vibration sounds like a rattle.

Update 9/25: after contact with Garmin NL, they booked my watch in for RMA. Just dropped it off this morning.

Same issue here. Been ok for 2 months or so and with no apparent reason it started to make this rattle noise when vibrating

I had mine replaced with a new one by Garmin. New one was a refurbished one, so decided to sell it and buy a secondhand fēnix 3 instead
