Strava Segment sync doesn't work anymore

I'm a Strava Summit member (Analysis pack only) and I'm not able to sync my Strava segments to my Garmin Edge 520 and my Garmin Forerunner 645 Music anymore. Garmin Connect shows all Strava segments properly (both in the app and the website), but they are not synced to the devices.

It worked for both devices perfectly, but the sync is broken since a few weeks. Maybe it's related to my changed Strava membership. I've cancelled my Strava Premium membership and switches to Strava Summit Analysis Pack later on. This pack supports Live Segments, that's all what I need.

I'm using the latest firmware on both devices (13.00 on Edge 520 and 5.70 on Forerunner 645 Music). Garmin Connect is installed on an Android phone (Samsung S9).

Does anybody has the same problems or an solution for that?

  • Update: the sync of segments works only via cable by using Garmin Express (macOS). But it does not work via Bluetooth and the Garmin Connect mobile app. It also doesn't work via Bluetooth after an successfull cable sync.

  • I have analysis and training and no problem.. Is necessary connect to Pc to download segments to Watch. 

  • Does the Strava Live segment sync work for you wireless with the Connect app or only with USB on the PC by using Garmin Express?

    • To download Segments only by USB, to actualice times by garmin connect and smartphone. 
  • Same here for me. But there is a solution, Remove all *.fit files from SEGMENT directory then do a sync couple times (for me it was 1x cable, 1x bt) then it works well again. Same say that you have to also unmark favourite segments on STRAVA but I didn't have to do that. Hope it's clear :D

  • I've got an email yesterday which says that this problem has been fixed in the latest Garmin Connect Mobile app version:

    So I've tested the latest Connect app 4.22 on my Android 9.0 device. It still does not work, same problem as before. So sad...

  • The automatic syncing of Strava Segments works again for me. That's great, but I don't know the reason. I've tested it today several times and it works as expected. (Garmin Connect app 4.22 on Android 9.0).
