645M Advance Sleep not being tracked

My unit has stopped tracking advance sleep recently despite meeting all requirements (on wrist 2 hours before sleep, hr monitor switched on, snug fit). It's been tracking or just fine until about 3 weeks ago and now it just prompts 'your device didn't monitor advanced sleep'.

Have reinstalled the mobile app and did a hard reset on unit but results are the same. Any ideas?

Currently running APAC 4.40 firmware.

  • Not sure if this matters in your situation but I have multiple devices and only the one I set as my preferred activity tracker is capable of tracking the advanced sleep data.

  • Thanks for the response,  and yes, I coincidentally have multiple trackers and I've selected my preferred tracker correctly without any success Pensive

  • In the last few days mine has had sleep weirdness.  I take my watch off at night and clip it to the charger.  For the last week it has been giving me full nights sleep of 100% "deep" and it says my device doesn't support the sophisticated sleep measures (645/music)

Last night I powered it off.

I'll see if it does it again tonight.

  • Doesn't really help, but I believe that the sleep analysis is done on the Garmin servers. In this case though it seems like it is not triggering to even try.

There's a setting somewhere for your approximate to bed and wake up times, but as it was working before this probably has not changed.

Seems like you should be on firmware 5.20, you may have to connect to computer to get that rather than just phone.

I have had problems like this before but usually only for a single night.  I find that the '2 hours' is not necessary (kind of precludes a bath before bed leaving the watch on the charger!), I just put it on and make sure that it is reading heart rate before going to bed.

  • Yes, you are correct in the approximate bed times. I've not changed that.

Unfortunately, the firmware update beyond 4.4 hasn't reached this part of the world Pensive I did see mention of sleep tracking improvement some where, but why it would breakConfounded previous versions but not make available the new/latest firmware without an eta is really frustrating.

  • Probably you've tried this already, but I think I had to plug into the desktop app and explicitly 'check for updates'.  I regularly use a VPN as well, so appear to be connecting from the UK.

Also, just to note I think the 'advanced sleep' is specific to having heart rate monitor data being logged and transferred to the Garmin servers.

  • I have same issue for 645 music Any news ?

  • I've seen this for the past 2 days now.  In both cases it was fixed by re-syncing (iPhone Garmin Connect) once or twice more.  It seems like it is an issue of not getting all the data to the servers for analysis.
