Strength Training Anaerobic training effect

Hi all, hope you can shed some light on a query I have.

I did a weight workout with the watch and a chest strap. When I looked at the training effect it said no Anaerobic effect.

Is training effect not suitable for strength training? Or is it more for sprints and interval training?
  • Anaerobic is when you can’t get enough oxygen in. When running this is when you are above your lactate threshold somewhere around 90% of Maximum Heart Rate. Is your heart rate really that high when doing weights?
  • I see, it more for running then. As weights is an anaerobic activity I was expecting it to register more than 0.7.

My HR was nowhere near 90%. I will ignore it for weights going forward. Many thanks for clearing it up.

  • Yeah, I noticed it too. Hour and a half of weight lifting without anaerobic effect :) Really?! :) I think Garmin are not good enough in this area. At least, not yet.
