Iheartradio Music app crashes and slow transfer

So I signed up for Iheartradio all access subscription after the release of the iheartradio app by Garmin. I got to say, the experience so far has been incredibility frustrating. The transfer of a few playlist took over 4 hours and then only some of the playlist transferred. This morning, When trying to sync my music in the Iheartradio app, I get a ConnectIQ error.

Anyone else experiencing these issues. I'm about to return this watch.

When you were syncing the music, were you experiencing any issues with connecting with your Wifi network?

There is a 250MB limitation for Connect IQ music, how many songs were you attempting to download?

What is the error that you are/were seeing this morning?

I would encourage you to send an email to [email protected] for direct assistance and troubleshooting. This will allow the Product Support teams to collect more information so that this can be investigated.

Hi Garmin-Joey,

What is this 250MB limit you speak of? Does this mean you can only transfer 250MB worth of music from IHeartRadio?

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Correct, there is a 250MB limitation for the Connect IQ app. The amount of memory available in the app can be found at Manage>iHeartRadio>Options>About.
• I can tell you after playing around with the iheartradio wifi sync, its not a pleasant experience.

Currently, I don't think this is even a feature that is worth using. The old fashion method of usb and drag and drop is much easier and quicker.

- Limitation of only 250mb, this is very limiting as you can only upload couple of playlist
- In order to sync, you have to have your watch connected to the charger
- You have to sync the playlist using the watch interface, no phone app interface to do this
- Connecting to Wifi and then syncing playlist is extremely slow.
- When the 250mb is used up, unselecting old play list to load new playlist does not work. Stuck with message that says I'm out of storage.

• I had the same experience with iHeart. I found a workaround to the storage limit error when selecting a new playlist is to delete the entire app, reinstall, and then select the new playlist and sync. Not ideal by any means, but it worked.

• I had enough of the buggy issues on this watch. I'm returning my watch and going back to using my 935 as my main running watch and using it along with Apple Watch 3 for music.
Just a horrible experience in my opinion. Not worth the music option is not worth the upgrade at the moment.
• I'm close to doing the same and going back to the 935 but I'm going to hold on a while longer. It's not unusual for initial Garmin releases to be buggy. I'm hopeful the watch improves in next firmware iteration.

Hi Dennis,

This is a serious problem and a major disappointment! 250MB is not a practical solution for music on any device. To put things into context, 20 year old mp3 players have more music storage than this. I have no Pandora or Spotify! No Chase Bank! No CITI Bank! I am running around testing out Deezer thinking it might be a viable option when it eventually gets released. Now I come to find out even if Deezer is a decent service I only get 250MB worth on the watch! Where is the 500 songs? And don't tell me something about 250MB from Deezer and a bunch of my own mp3s (I manually transfer) to get any where near 500 songs.

Sorry for the rant but this is misleading, unfair, shady. And this is coming from a Garmin fan who really loves the watch.

Garmin-Joey: What is Garmin's position on this? They have to realize what this means to their customers!
• I'm not in the know, but wouldn't be surprised if the 250mb is a temporary limit due to product launch limitations.
• I am glad it only cost me $50 to try the music. Love the watch. My solution has been to run with both the 645M and my Fitbit Ionic. I listen to Pandora on my FB with my Aftershokz bone sound head set and use the 645 for running data. That works great for me.
3 weeks running with the watch- 145 miles. No glitches.
