What is this annoying symbol on display ?

On the display where the date is, a strange scratchy circular symbol surrounds the date such that you can't actually read the date. What is it and how do I get rid of it ?

Looks like display malfunction. Try rebooting the watch. If this does not help, contact garmin support.
