Bug list for firmware 3.20

It would be nice if people could confirm this list and also report new bugs.

Bugs:
1- Stair stepper activities are recorded by Strava as if they happened in the future. Real example: activity happened at 9:53am, but Strava says it happened at 17:53 (same day). This doesn't occur when running or cycling. I checked and it seems stair stepper (and all indoor activities) has no GPX file support (probably because it has no GPS information), so this may be confusing Strava;

2- If you do more than one activity of the same type in a day and go to My Day widget, you'll see a list with all the activities of that day. If you press Start/Stop to see more details of My Day, you'll see more details of the first activity, and if you press Down you should be able to see the next activity details, however the watch still shows the first one;

3- When reviewing a running activity (potentially any activity with more than 4 laps) from inside the watch, if you scroll down to the lap list, you'll see something like this:
Lap 1 5:27
Lap 2 5:33
Lap 3 5:46
Lap 4 5:45

If the activity has more than 4 laps, you need to scroll down to see the other laps. So in a 5 laps activity you may see something like this:
Lap 5 0:36

So far so good! However, if you scroll up to check the previous laps again, you'll see something like this:
Lap 1 5:33
Lap 2 5:46
Lap 3 5:45
Lap 4 0:36

Notice that the time laps are now all shifted up, showing incorrect values;

4- This is random: sometimes you're using the watch and see the battery percentage going to 20% and after a few minutes it goes back to 40% and remains there for hours;

5- Weather widget information is frequently not been shown ('Waiting for data'), as reported here: forums.garmin.com/.../why-does-my-watch-continuously-say-waiting-for-data

Dubious features and/or requests:
1- Why can't we see the elevation gain information on the activity review on the watch?

2- Are we going to see Respiration Rate feature? It was recently added to FR245;

  • I just got a forerunner 45 and it had 2.90 software and had bug 3 in it. I update to 3.20 and it still has the bug. Poor.

  • Thanks for confirming the issue number 3!

  • I reported bug 3 to Garmin Product support and included a link to this post and got a bizarre email back asking how to reproduce the issue. I would have thought there was more than enough information in the description to produce the problem. I will post an update if Garmin can ever be bothered to investigate.

    Regarding bug 2, I am not sure how you used the My Day widget. I have 2 activities on one day and if I press the up button and go to history (so 2 presses of up), then previous weeks in my case, I can see both activities. However, just pressing up once and then pressing start all I get to see is the run activities I cannot see the cycling ones. I did a run and cycle on the same day. So it may depend on which path you use to display the activity?

  • Thanks for the feedback! How are you reporting bugs to Garmin?

    I've just updated bug 2 in the fist post because it was not clear indeed. Let me know if it's clear now and if you can replicate it. :)

  • I just did and indoor cycle, then a walk (just round the house to get some data to get 2 activities). I press down twice to get to My Day and can see the 2 activities. I press start/stop and see the walk. I press down and see the cycle. So everything seems ok for me.

    I originally contacted Garmin via this link

    They replied via this email
    [email protected]

  • I see. I think the bug only happens when we do more than one activity of the same type. I did cycling and stair stepper today and couldn't reproduce it. But yesterday I did 2 cycling activities and the bug was clearly there! Could you try this?

    Thanks for the info :)

  • I did 2 indoor walks today and I can see both on the My Day widget. I then press Start/Stop for the data and can only get the latest walk so you are correct in that different activities are ok but 2 of the same are not.

    Garmin are apparently investigating bug 3. I had to send them files from the Forerunner. I have no idea why when the fault is easy to re-produce so they could have used their own device. If and when I get any answers I will post here.
