The Forerunner 35 strap has a serious design flaw, which causes the silicone strap to separate from the plastic attachment points, usually after several months. Not sure if this is the type of damage you're refering to. Garmin will replace a broken strap if the watch is still within warranty, but the same will happen to the replacement strap, sooner or later.
