Bug: Garmin FR265 data screen fields sometimes changes to timer when the lap button is pressed

On my Forerunner 265s, I have created a custom activity and have added several custom data screens.

The screen I use the most has four data items: HR Graph, lap time, last lap time, and heart rate.

During a workout, I press the lap button each time we switch sets, which is usually around 4 minutes, but sometimes as little as 10 seconds.  The full workout is usually about an hour and half.

The bug is that after pushing the lap button a number of times, some of the fields are inexplicably replaced with the "timer" field (usually replacing last lap time first).  As I keep pushing the lap button, more fields get replaced, until all four fields have "timer".

After the workout is over, I can later go in and edit the data fields back to what they were, but the next time I run the activity and press the lap button enough, it happens again.

Very annoying as I'm relying on these fields to tell when sets are supposed to switch and keep equal time between groups.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Are there any workarounds?  My workaround right now is to create multiple data screens with the fields I need, and when they get overwritten with timer, switching to a different screen.

What is the proper way to report a bug like this?

Thanks!!!

  • Hello

I have te same problem. Sometimes (few days ago), m'y data fields black to timer. I'm french then this is a problem for all countries.

    Best regards

    Watch : 265

  • I've been experiencing a similar issue with my FR265 but so far it's only affected one of my data fields.  My "main" running screen is set up with four fields: timer, cadence, pace and HR gauge.  It's only happened to me twice so far but in both cases the pace field changed itself to a timer.

As it's only happened to me a couple of times I don't know if anything I've done might have triggered it, but I don't normally do much with my watch during a run.  Normally I'll just change between data screens as needed.  I never press the lap button while running.

  • Yes, my wife is still having this issue on occasion. Being so intermittent it's hard to pin down a trigger. Really frustrating to have to reset all her data fields.
