USB disk requires formatting when connecting forerunner to laptop? Any advice?

Hi All. I have a Garmin Forerunner 225, and have tried to connect it to my laptop (windows 10) today. It is not being recognised and gives an error saying the USB disk in the drive needs to be formatted. This is a new problem as I connected my device a couple of weeks ago no problem/ I have uninstalled garmin express and re-installed the latest version. The FAQ tips from Garmin on this subject didn't work either. Is this a Garmin issue or Windows issue? Any advice much appreciated.

Hi All. I have a Garmin Forerunner 25 that shows the same behavior under Win7 + 10 + Linux: Win shows the disk drive letter but tells me to format the disk. Under Linux I can see the disk but it seems to be raw - should be formated.

Under Windows I reinstalled all USB-drivers but nothing changed. Under Win + Linux I connected the Forerunner to every USB 2/3 ports without any result.

I think its a Garmin issue. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance.

I have forerunner 35 that have had the same issue for 8 days now.
Found this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-230-235/116492/you-need-to-format-the-disk-in-drive-e and it looks like it could be a Windows driver issue. Hope Garmin fixes this soon.
