The Watchstrap Problem (Fat Wrists)

I'm sure I am not the only "larger person" whose Forerunner is perpetually on the last few holes of the strap. It looks awkward when you are on the last hole, and I couldn't wear my watch further up my arm, as recommended.

Having failed to find a suitable longer strap, I came up with my own solution:

More pictures and details of what I did are here:

Hope this is of help to some.

  • Nice solution. I am OK with watch straps but not with running shoes as my feet are too long and narrow for most models.

    Oh to be "average" sometimes!
  • Nice! Fine solution and indeed looks very decent... Not too odd at all. Well done :)
  • I could loan you about 10 holes worth off of my strap. With my skinny wrists the end comes within an inch of coming back around to the strap mount on the other side.

The fact that one side was the original black and grey, whereas the new strap had red highlights, didn't show that much when worn, as only an inch of the black/grey was visible. However, I liked the solution so much that I bought a second identical strap, so the whole thing is now black/red. The strap was dirt cheap (not an original Garmin), and the original strap is now in the draw as a spare against the time that my wrists may get smaller.
