So when I tried to broadcast heart rate from my FR 235 to my Edge 520 I was kind of successful. I was able to get the reading to the Edge 520, but I couldn't use my FR 235 for anything else. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?

From the Garmin Forerunner 235 Owner's Manual:
NOTE: You can view only the heart rate widget while broadcasting heart rate data.
If you're using the FR235 as a HR sensor to feed data to some other monitoring device, then during that time the watch won't perform running watch functions (but I think it'll continue to track steps, etc. in the background).
Thanks. Although it makes sense that when broadcasting heart rate to another device, since that other device is doing the tracking, the 235 ceases to function in that role. I wonder if the decision for adopting that behavior has to do with battery life?
