Buying from a particular retail chain (Garmin auth dealer) in Australia is as cheap
Amazon USA has it on sale for $240
I just checked, and I think that ship has sailed.
On the other hand, Joe Consumer in Australia can still buy the Forerunner 235 from a particular retail chain, which has numerous bricks-and-mortar stores nationally and is a Garmin authorised dealer, for about that price – using US$1=A$1.40 as the approximate conversion rate – entirely legitimately today, with immediate gratification (if you buy and/or pick up the item in store) and full protection of the Australian Consumer Law. That's not the RRP or the ticket price in store, of course, but through the chain's retail sales policy and knowledge of which of its recognised competitors has stock to offer at what price, anyone here can walk in from the street can get it for around A$340; I did that myself early last week, and it was actually the store staff that volunteered information about the applicable policy, so that made me a very happy customer.
(No, I do not work there and am not otherwise affiliated with the retail chain or have a financial interest, and to avoid undue suspicion and accusations, I'm going to steer clear of ‘advertising’ the name of the chain here.)
