Hello all, and thank you for your participation on this topic.
As many users have pointed out, Zwift's virtual shifting feature relies on more than just the connected smart trainer (in this case, the NEO…
Garmin,
We need this update! Please update the Firmware to include virtual shifting.
thanks
As per the response from GPlama we as a community need to request this from Tacx...................... COME ON Garmin/Tacx get on with enabling virtual shifting
Exactly.. I don’t want to sell mine as I love my Neo 2T but I would like to be able to virtual shift.
Agree. I don’t think the Neo line loses money for Garmin, but I highly doubt it makes them much money, thus they don’t put any resources on it. I think it’d be better if Garmin sold off their cycling trainer business to a company who’ll actually invest in it & care about the business. The Neo technology is solid, it’s a shame it’s being wasted. For the Neo 2T, it’s a legacy unsupported product at this point where there’s zero anccounting / money incentive to update it to virtual shifting.
Agree. Garmin seem distracted on boats etc., and not focused enough on cycling/fitness. Wahoo is 100% focused. I'm very disappointed because I bet on Garmin a few years back and I now own a ton of Garmin products, including the Neo 2T. However, if Garmin doesn't provide a Firmware update to enable virtual shifting with Zwift Ride, I'm going to start migrating to Wahoo. In 2020 most of the pro peloton used Garmin. Now most teams use Wahoo. Virtual shifting is a big part of the future of trainer technology and to not provide support with such a premium device, is very poor indeed.
100% 7678660. Like you I have had lots of Garmin products over the years. Currently have the Neo 2T, Fenix 7X pro and Edge 540. I love them all but feel very let down by the support for the Neo.
As you said, when watching cycling on Eurosport you would see teams warming up/cooling down on Tacx Neo’s. Now they are all on Wahoo trainers.
Virtual shifting seems like a no brainer to keep their products relevant.
It's clear that Garmin do not read this thread. GP Llama suggests contacting them through this suggestion form https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/forms/ideas/
If we all make a suggestion this way maybe it will get more traction.
Thanks
I put a post on the Garmin FB page too which you might like to add to.
