Power comparison with Vector 3 Pedals

Hi,

I got my 2T today and did my first ride using TrainerRoad. I used the 2T as the power source in Erg mode connected to TrainerRoad, with my Vector 3 pedals connected to my Edge 1030. There was a significant defference between the power readings of the two devices of between 15 and 20 watts; the Neo reading approx 245 and the Vectors closer to 260. A chart is attached showing hte two rides overlaid on one another.

Is there a problem, or is this normal? I don't know how the different readings are taken, but assume that they should be broadly similar across the range - the variation seems to great to be accounted for by devices at opposite ends of their tolderance ranges to me. Grateful for your thoughts?

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

No one is yelling at anyone, but suggesting that there is an imminent fix for a problem that hasn't been articulated except for the original problem (September 2019) is misleading to others reading this forum. Suggesting it's a "known issue" is just not accurate, and certainly hasn't been reported by Garmin / Tacx. There are an awful lot of very satisfied Neo 2T owners, and while I'm sorry that Shane's isn't among them, that's not quite the same as suggesting there is an overall issue.

  • My neo 2T drops my performance by 5 to 10% ... certainly I do a lot of workout because my home trainer is used for my real-life races. But it's unfortunate not to be able to simply calibrate. Some people seem to have less problems, it's good, but for someone who goes virtual race, it's a shame. Thank you for your attention

  • In ERG i find bigger discrepancy 10-12W across the range , thats 4% difference between  Neo2T and Power2Max Ng eco

In simulation is much better on 5min-1hour , but in 1 sec -5 sec there are big differences

  • Have you tested new 0.34 fw vs. power2max in erg mode?

Tested yesterday 200 and 250w. Nothing changed against previous fw.

  • not yet in ERG Disappointed

This was in Zwift simulation after 0.34 update, maybe is on my head but I feel some nuances in how the ride is feeling (in better way)

Difference can be because of drive train(chain loss)

same here. still very inaccurate for me against vector 3 and 4iiii.

wish i could get results like that! this makes me believe there's a big number of units with hardware issues and not software issues at the moment.

  • I can wonder if the rest of the power meter are accurate , 4iii is left only for example

Although there might be a slight loss due to drive train inefficiency, given the means by which the Neo derives power, I would tend to place more dependence on the accuracy of the Tacx Neo's power output over any other powermeter!
