Steps are counted during activities

When I start an activity like working out on the elliptical I would expect that my steps are not counted. Unfortunately they are, the result is that the calories from every step on the elliptical are counted twice and my step count is totally inaccurate for days I work out.

  • I don't know garmins algorithm for calories, but I don't think it is based on step count. think it uses movement+pulse and that steps is just another derivative of movement. Since I track my workout on apple watch (better HR results for body pump classes) and import it to garmin, while also wearing vs4 I am bit of a special case and not sure if my workout calories overrules activity tracking calories, but the daily active calories are so low, that they are definitely not both included.
