Display will not turn on with Gesture (raising wrist)

While I have my "Gesture" Display setting as "on", the display will only turn on with a double tap.
When the setting on "Only During Activity" its working fine "during the activity", and it turns on while I raise my wrist.

Does anybody know how to solve this issue, or might it be a software problem?

Mine is intermittent. Some times works well. Other times I'm waving my arm in the air frantically and nothing!

The same - sometimes works or not, looks software/ sensor bug ?

One thing is if it's during the sleep window and you have do not disturb set to ON then it will not allow gestures to turn on. Possibly try this: go into the setting for gesture, turn it the way you don't want it to be, then sync, then go back and turn it to the way you want it to be and then sync again.

I have a Garmin Venu....I had my 'Do not Disturb' function on which is why my gesture display was not working. As soon as i turned it off, my gesture setting worked perfectly.

My Venu for some reason decided to switch the "Do Not Disturb" option on even though I was not in my sleep period. Weird. I definitely didn't switch that on. Anyway, once I had set that back to "off" I stopped flapping my hands round like I had St. Vitus Dance ..

Disconnect it from phone. Reset under system to default. Set up manually on watch without connecting to phone.

Reset to default under system. Once done do not connect to phone. Set up manually. This fixes it

How do you do it without connecting to phone? When I have tried to do manual reset it automatically wants to connect with phone and gives me no other option?
Also having same issue with Gesture..
