Not able to track timed activities.

Hi

I have just purchased a vivomove 3s.  On the first day, I was able to record a couple of timed activities (a walk and a run).  Yet on the second day, when I press on the activity icon (the man), I am not able to scroll through the list of activities.  Instead, the man disappears, and I am just left with the 'return' option.  Yet if I select other options from the main menu (such as settings), I am able to scroll through the sub-options relating to that option.  

Any ideas why this is happening? 

Also, and not sure if this is connected, I have changed the watch face from the app, which correctly changed it on the watch after syncing, but has since gone back to the original watch face.  The app still shows the changed watch face.
