Nap Feature

Seriously? My new Vivoactive 5 recorded a 38-minute nap while I read a book. I do not nap, nor will I ever. Either give us the option to turn off the defective nap feature, or allow us to edit the time to reflect the 0 minutes that I will ever nap. I'm ready to return this watch.

This should not be hard. When will there be a solution for this problem??

  • Ok thanks. Yes they are shown just not where I was expecting. Was expecting them under Sleep but I think they’re only under Sleep Coach and Body Battery.

  • Is there any news regarding the nap feature?

just now it detected two naps in a row, while I was sitting and talking. One from 21.03-21.21 and the second from 21.31-21.53.

I hoped it would get fixed with the software update that we received this week, or maybe with an app update, so that we can remove the falsely recorded naps in the connect app?

  • Fortunately, on a newer BETA Software, there are not that many naps detected, but from time to time it happens every 3-4 days it might get some naps... Most naps are now relaxing periods... On an old 8.XX software I had like 2-3 naps every day without napping..

Unfortunately while I don't nap, a couple of days ago I had 2 big 30-60 or longer naps in a row, because I was feeling a little sick... it was ~ 15:00; it didn't get those... just a short 10-15min...

I could say that the NAP FEATURE sucks... it's not even hit or miss, it's just... WHATEVER...

It would be great to just disable it somehow...

  • I found something new in the iOS connect app today! Under sleep coach you can add ánd delete naps! So falsely detected naps can be removed now. I’ve used the feature for the first time today, after it recorded a 25 minute nap again while I was walking around the house :)

It’s only not syncing back to the watch, like when you edit the sleep and wake time in the app and then the updated sleep and wake time are syncing back to the watch. This is not the case with naps. So on my watch I still see a nap.

Thank you, Garmin, for finally adding this feature to connect!

  • Yes, this was made available in the last Connect App update and should soon be reflected on the FAQ with steps on how to edit/delete naps.

Thank you for the share, Esther!

    1. This feature only allows for deleting of naps on the current day. You still can't go back through previous days and delete incorrectly auto logged naps. They need to address this issue in the next update. It's not that complicated to implement and it's ridiculous that months after many have complained about this nap feature, they still haven't done much about it.
  • I found a way to delete naps on the Android app. It's not perfect it doesn't fully delete it from your sleep coach, but it's something that needs to be worked on. I am in the beta mode. Maybe that's why, but this was as far as I got.

    Sleep> sleep coach> naps>

swipe left on the nap you want to delete.
