Wifi Sync causing massive battery drain - APAC VA3m

I've got a VA3m (APAC version) with Firmware 6.10.

It's my "backup" watch when I'm not using my Fenix 6.

Since Christmas time approx, I've noticed that it's having major problems syncing via Wifi.  It will spend AGES (sometimes up to 5 minutes) saying "Searching for Wifi Networks" and the whole time it's doing this, the Wifi Radio is active.  Wifi on this device has a huge battery impact, so 5 minutes of Wifi syncing attempts can take ~10% off the battery easily.  It will also sometimes stop staying it's doing anything, but attempting to hit the Wifi Sync again will give a "Sync already in progress!" message.  So it's doing Wifi in the background, but you don't actually realise (Except for the rapidly tanking battery)

I've found that even if it does manage to sync properly, it's not correctly pulling the number of steps I've done that day from Garmin Connect (yes Physio Tru-up is turned on both devices).  It will pull all activities and my latest VO2Max, but not steps. The only way I get it to reflect the proper number of steps is to turn on Bluetooth and have it Sync to Garmin Connect via my phone.

It appears to be a VA3m specific problem, my F6 Pro has no issues Wifi syncing within a few seconds, the same as my VA3m used to do.

This problem does not appear to be specific to a new firmware, it was working fine prior to Christmas, and I had the same FW versions.

The watch has been powered off a number of times, quite often because I've hit "Wifi Sync" a second before taking the watch off and putting it down, only to come back 12 hours later and the battery is totally dead.  I've only just with a bit of experimentation realised what's going on and why the battery has been dying so quickly.
