Battery drain after update 7.50

Seems like I should start a new post since nobody answered. So my VA3 automatically updates to latest 7.50 and the watch can't barely hold a charge more than 2 days vs previous SW 7.40 which hold a 4+ days on a single charge with daily run + GPS for 1 hour.

Tried to factory reset the watch using only minimal digital watchface with no second hand (royal) and only installed battery widget. Even changed the phone with new Bluetooth 5.1 enabled doesn't solve the problem. As seen below it drains 3% per hour which is unacceptable. With only 1 year usage, is it time to ditch garmin?

Mine has deteriorated to just a few hours. This happened suddenly. I sourced a new battery and changed it (not an easy job), which made no difference. It is the watch/software that is faulty.

Mine is less than 1 year old brand new watch. And the SW before 7.40 also broke the watch's battery. 7.40 fixed that and 7.50 broke it again. So safe to assume the battery and internals are in good condition.

We have two other VA3's in the family, which are unaffected by the updates. I think it's the hardware.

You may be right though I doubt if its the same in my case. Hopefully one of the admins can shed some light

I have the same problem. Mine is 2.5 years old, but it went from lasting 4 days on a charge to lasting about a day. The change happened suddenly, I've tried other watch faces, making sure it wasn't broadcasting heart rate, changing the backlight setting to be less. Nothing has worked.

We have 5 Garmin watches and 2 bike computers in the family. We will now be moving over to Suunto as the need to replace them comes around. That's the only answer.

Well I couldn't agree with you more while WearOS is beginning to appeal with the latest ticwatch pro 2020. Maybe even switch gear to Samsung or xiaomi

Mine is a VA3music but probably suffers a similar root cause. What I've noticed is the battery drain is huge after the watch is removed from the charger.

My workaround, after charging the watch, is just to switch it off and on. The battery % decreases much more slowly after this restart (something like -1% rather than -8% per hour). It might be worth a try.

Already tried that method but it has no effect. Still drains a constant 3% rate per hour.

The fact that no Admin has yet to respond proved garmin's lack of CS is just BS!
