fast batterie drain

About 2 week ago my vivoactive 3 started chewing through the batteries in less than 1 day it may have coincided with an update. I have tried everything including restoring to factory start. All notifications are off and not connected to phone, backlight 10%. Until then the battery has always lasted 5 to6 days. I have had the watch for 2 years

  • Same here. Since firmware update 7.3.

yep same here. Vivoactive 3 music, used to get pretty decent battery usage and suddenly I can barely get 3 hours while recording GPS. Even with HR and bluetooth off. Contacted Garmin, and await a response...

  • I Think this is a problem with the firmware update.

    Garmin keeps ignoring it.

This is for sure my last garmin device. Its not the first time, and tooks a lot to admit it and solve it.

  • In addition I noticed that heart rate recording stopped during the night several times. In the morning the watch did not show any heart rate. I had to restart the watch in order to have heart rate again. Does anybody have the same problem?

  • No problem with showing my heartrate during day, night or activities here. Only my battery can't hold a day now. Completely depleted in +/- 20 hours. Have to charge it twice a day now

  •  I contacted Garmin Germany regarding my problems with fast battery drain and heart rate stopping after firmware 7.3 update. I asked if the problem could be the firmware update and if a new firmware would be soon available. I did not get an answer to my question but a RMA number to return my watch for repair as it is still under warranty. As it is already Thursday I decided to return it after the weekend and in the meantime try if a factory reset might solve the problem. I normally try to avoid a factory reset as customizing the watch including Garmin Pay takes quite a lot of time, especially as I am using 2 smartphones.

  • When I bought VA3 about year ago (11 months) - the battery was for 5-6 days   (but should be up to 8 days - as described in documentation).
Nowadays - the battery is for 2 days only (no GPS, BT on,    when BT-is off - almost 3 days max,    when 1 hour GPS per day - less than 2 days)

My 3 years old VA HR still working on battery 8-10 days (BT always on)    (very small difference between VA generations - VA HR has no fw upgrade from 2 years ;)

  • After the factory reset the battery life seems to have improved. Also the problem that the heart rate was not always recorded disappeared. But now the floor count has completely stopped. As others reported here the floor count was ridiculous high lately, but know the watch does not recognise any floors. I will do another factory reset tomorrow, if this does not solve the problem I will send it for repair to Garmin on Monday.

  • i have same issue, battery suddenly last 2 days rather than 5!
