Skin irritation/rash/burn

I have worn my vivoactive 3 for 1 year. Started out with no issues. About 4 months ago the watch band started giving me a rash/burn that would burn and the skin would eventually peel off. I started washing my watch with antibacterial soap instead of just wiping it down with a baby wipe after I got sweaty and it seemed to work for a while. Now the band is not irritating my skin as badly, but the back of the watch face. I’m not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but strange to me that I wore this watch with no issues for 8 months.

  • Hi, I am not sure what it says in the cleaning instructions but generally using clear warm water only is the way to go. Soap and other things that maybe in cleaning wipes are not good for any rubber or silicon surfaces The softerners used will eventually dispense and might irritate skin...

  • I switched out to a nylon strap sold by Garmin and no longer have this issue (it's been months).  I wonder if it's a sensitivity to the material, like I know I have a minor latex sensitivity.

  • Hi

I had same issue. You need to change arm while you let irritated skin heals. And probably use one klick less tight on wristband while not in avtivity

    Worked for me. Good luck

  • I had the same issue and Garmin sent me a very good looking Nylon replacement band for free. (retails at $59.99) Just call them. You must be one us lucky people that has an allergy to silicone.  I used to wear a silicone wedding band and had the same problem there as well.

  • I used to wear mine 24/7 but ran into same issue. I have signed wearing mine, it's taking a long time to heal. Please post if you have found a solution.

  • I reached out to Garmin and they sent me a new watch. Turns out I’m allergic to the metal on the vivoactive 3 so they sent me a vivoactive music that is plastic on the back with a band that had holes on the other side as well. I’ve had it over a year and absolutely no skin irritation! I’d contact Garmin and I’m sure they will have a solution for you. Good luck!

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and doing it so quickly! I have contacted Garmin. Fingers crossed

  • We are sorry to hear about the issue you are reporting. The skin irritation may be a result of build-up on the watch band and/or casing. You should discontinue wearing your watch until your skin has healed.
