THIRD Vivoactive 3 broken in 3 months !!

My Vivoactive 3 Music has just broken (stopped counting steps, stopped taking Wrist HR) - this is the THIRD time this has happened in 3 months, so I am incredibly unimpressed. My first Vivoactive lasted me well for 9 months until the step counter & Wrist HR software suddenly stopped working (in Systems it said software '0.00' downloaded) which was incredibly frustrating. I did all the advised checks (switching on/off, rebooting, erasing all data) but nothing worked.

Garmin sent me a new device in January, but this also stopped working in February so I was sent another - now THIS one has also stopped working (March 31st).

Have been thoroughly unimpressed with Garmin's products - they are completely unreliable, which is especially frustrating as I have been training for a marathon which was supposed to be this weekend.

Has anyone else experienced so many faults & is it possible to get some kind of refund - I know Garmin will offer to replace it, but quite frankly, I'm not sure I want another one of their faulty products & would rather switch brand at this point...

  • I've found Garmin products to be pretty reliable. I've had my VA3 for 2 years without incident except for the odd crash of my watch face. In the  oast, I had a Vivosmart(1) with a screen issue that many people had. I also had a 910XT with a power button issue. In both cases, Garmin support came through quickly. One thing though is that in both cases, they sent refurbs as replacements so I would imagine that that's probably what they did in your case. If those replacements still had latent defects, it would explain your experience. If so, you should ask for a brand new watch as a replacement.

  • I get my Vivoactive 3 on November, 2019. On February my watch Move IQ didn't worked (It only says "Move!" every morning at 9.00 o clock! No more.) When I read facebook on my phone, watch decided- I have slept. Step counter made mistakes, too. By fast walk it shows- I have walked 7- 8 floors, but I only went 1.5 kilometres to job, by the street. Watch made mistakes, while I swim, too. Sometimes it shows- I have swimmed more, sometime it shows- I have swimed less. I experienced some mistakes by floor climb and bike riding, too. When I took a bus and go across the bridge, watch decided: I have climbed 4 floors...

Last week I have get new watch from service . But I do not believe this GARMIN watch yet. I need to pay leasing for this item. When leasing ends, I will look for another brand watch without so many mistakes.
