Off wrist sleep tracking?

Vivoactive 3 now records sleep when watch is not worn. It used to recognise that and not record sleep.

When will this be fixed?

This has been fixed by Garmin tech support. Read my response from them in the thread you linked.

Mine just started doing this too; past 3 nights while the watch is sitting on my dresser it's recording between 8-9 hours of deep sleep which isn't remotely close to reality and impossible. Never…
