Bluetooth connection distance

I have received my VA3 yesterday and everything seems fine apart from the distance of the Bluetooth connection to my phone. As soon as I get more than just a few feet away from my phone the watch disconnects!

Is there a way to increase the distance of the connection?

  • I think that for a good BT connection there must be a good strong signal between both BT antena's, the watch and the phone as well.

Both my chargers (garmin and my phone) are in my bedroom and my PC room is about 8-10 meters apart and two doors in between.

Either I am charging my VA3 and my phone is at my desk or charging the phone and my watch is on my wrist - I have not noticed disconnections ...but also I am not syncing things to my watch like phone (SMS or emails) notifications in example. Since day one I had no situation to manually connect back to GC or to my phone.

Also, my PC room is on top of the garage on first floor and below is my car (5-6 meters apart), I noticed couple times that the phone is still connected to my car when I arrive home (go upstairs to leave my keys and phone on a shelf - and going back down to my car again because I forgot things on rear seat)...

My phone is the Samsung S9+ btw and the BT and WiFi antena's are really good.

  • I started my new VA3 today and I am experiencing the same thing. I feel like I cannot walk that far away from my phone before it disconnects. And it won't auto reconnect either! That is the most frustrating.

  • I was in the basement setting up my gravel/road bike on trainer for the winter, my phone on second floor where I usually leave it on my desk beside my PC.

My watch VA3 behaved normally didn't gave me any buzz but my Edge 1030 randomly beeping, disconnected-reconnected to my phone on second floor...Two floors = two levels in between maybe 10-12 meters air distance, maybe more.
