Sensor Impact on Battery Life

Does leaving the Sensors on under the Sensors & Accessories menu drain the battery as it is always looking for the paired sensors?  I always turn off the paired sensors after each use but wonder if it is necessary and if not doing so would impact battery life.  Thoughts?

  • This is a bit of a catch 22, in that when you go to sensors & accessories, it starts looking for them.  At other times, it's not trying to use the external sensors unless you are in an activity that would use them

So, you really have to do nothing.  When you start a "run" activity", at that point it will start looking for sensors, but not before.

  • No. I get 7-8 days on one charge in smartwatch mode without using GPS and leaving the sensors enabled. As Jim says they are only used in activities and when you bring up the sensor menu.

you are placed in the best position to test this

until now you turned of the sensors after each use

change your procedure and stop turning the sensors off after each use

and keep note of your battery state now in comparison with before the procedure change Wink
