Touch screen does not respond (factory reset?)

Hi,

Since this morning, the touch screen on my Vivoactive 3 Music has stopped responding. I can still click the button on the side and the watch responds, so it's really a matter of the touch screen. I restarted the watch using the button (15 seconds off, 1 second on), this did not work.

I would like to try a hard/factory reset before I conclude that the screen is really broken. How do I perform a hard/factory reset while I cannot enter the menu using the touchscreen?

Any other thoughts would be great. Thanks in advance!

David

  • Give Garmin support a call.  There is a timing sequence of pushing the button during boot up that gets you into an engineering and diagnostic mode.  You then walk through the pages of this mode with button pushes as well.  Thus it does not rely on the touchscreen.  From there they may be able to diagnose and/or may have a page from which you can reset.

They walked me through this mode during a support call on something else, so I was in it but don't remember the sequence to get back into it.

If nothing else, if they can't fix the device while on the phone with you, they can replace the device for you.

  • Thanks. I've returned the watch to the seller for repair / replacement.

  • I have the same issue, anybody got advice how to resolve? Have logged a call with Garmin support but they are not open weekends.
