GPS track stopped recording mid activity

Yesterday during a 15k run the GPS track stopped recording at around 10k. I had pace,HR, elevation data gait data (steps per min) in real time and later on as well, only after uploading i couldn't see map data plotted after around 10k into my run. I didn't pause the watch at that point, nor did i get any calls/ messages or anything other specific that i could pinpoint this to.

has anyone else had this problem before? thanks, Daniel

Daniel, I know your post is old but the same thing just happened to me yesterday. I could tell when it happened - my pace started bouncing all around on the watch and didn't seem right, but the watch kept showing the distance increasing so I didn't realize until the run was finished what had happened. It seems to have ended up with the right distance and approximately the right pace, but no elevation data or GPS trace from that point on.

This happens to me on long (>10km) runs after EACH firmware upgrade, and gets fixed only if I do a factory reset, keeping (some) user data.

I am experiencing the same issue. It happenes every now and then. I do not see any correlation to other events. The tracking is lost. I happened after a few minutes or after half an hour - so, any time. I disabled now Move IQ Event recording. Will check if that is in conflict with the recording.

This happened also to me last week. Today it worked fine again. I hope it was just an incident.

Hi Patrick, I had this about 5 times already and then it was fine again for a while before it happened again. Hope dies last - but it dies :(

My watch updated last night and the same thing just happened to me, map and data stop at 5k, but overall run distance OK. Pace after the 5k mark seems to have been averaged out

I received email response from Garmin support who recommend "Restoring All Default Settings". I did, now I´m waiting what happens. If the problem persists, Garmin asks me to bring it back to the dealer.

  • This happened to me today after about 6.5km. I didn't notice anything and at the end (about a km later) I stopped and saved my run like normal. Very strange.

This is happening also with my device the last couple of months when trying a long run (10-15K). Restoring default settings does not fix the problem.

  • Twice in the last few weeks, while running, the watched continued to track distance, but the watch indicated I had finished my run.  When I upload my data, it looks like I stopped 1/2 mile to 1 mile earlier.
