I have been testing a Vivoactive 3 Music as a replacement for a Samsung Gear Sport. To put it simply, I switched to an iPhone XR and the Vivoactive 3 Music is fully functional whereas the Gear Sport has become little more than a step counter with notifications. On all other fronts, I am satisfied with the device but it is consistently skewing my resting heart rate about 10 beats too high (active ranges from normal to 20 too high). I exchanged the watch, assuming it was defective, but the second one is also too high, with the resting rate always at least 10 higher than actual. I also checked my heart rate several ways, including the Gear Sport, and all are consistent except the Vivoactive 3 Music.
The problem is I have a slightly fast heart rate so having the watch go 10 up (or more) from actual has it insisting I am in a constant state of high stress and also burning ridiculous numbers of calories. For instance, other than attending Mass and a holiday market today, I was at my desk working all day and the watch has estimated I burned 5900 calories and this is just hour 20. I am well aware such devices are not always a good fit for all people, so I am just wandering if anyone has any suggestions that might resolve this problem or if it is just one of those cases where I need to move on to another device. I could live with the silly calorie numbers since I can just hide the category on the dashboard, but having the heart rate skewed is a lot more problematic.
