Button Query and Firmware Question

Firmware question first:
What's the actual latest firmware for this watch? Specifically the Vivoactive 3 Music! Mine is at 2.70 and it says it's up-to-date.

Secondly, a copy of my post from Reddit.com:

My lovely wife bought me out-of-the-blue (It just arrived at my work) a Vivoactive 3 Music watch to replace my aging Fitbit Blaze.

I love it. I love everything about it. My bank supports Garmin Pay, the features and tweakability blow the old Blaze out of the water.

My one odd problem with it is the single button it has. It's like it can double click. You press it lightly and it softly clicks, but it doesn't do anything. I've got to give it a decent, hard press, for it to register to press.

It's not really a problem, but it's just odd. I keep forgetting I have to "hard" press it, so I press it with the same pressure as my old Blaze and I feel a click/depression but it doesn't work, I have to press it hard to get it to work.

I should mention the harder press makes it click too, so a single working press results in a clickclick sensation.

So just curious - is this common to all Vivoactive 3 Musics, or do I (and this is what I suspect) just have a slightly faulty one?

Thanks!!
Tim
  • The latest firmware is 3.10
Your watch should get the firmware upgrade automatically via the Garmin Connect Mobile app, but it can take some time
You can download Garmin Express, which is a desktop (PC) software to Sync and update quicker. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/software/express

Once installed on your PC, simply connect your watch to your pc using the provided USB charging cable and launch the app. You will be asked to add your watch on the first run and then it will check for update (firmware and Connect IQ app) and Sync all your data and app.

For the button, mine doesn't click (silent but you can feel it)...
The button is harder as otherwise it may be pushed by default (when doing push up for instance).
The button only has 2 modes:
    - a short press: access to the activities menu and start/stop etc
    - a long press: access the Shortcut menu (configurable by users for accessing some feature such as wallet, stopwatch, turn off the watch etc etc

    - a very very long press (until the watch switch off): will also reboot the watch, you will lose the data (step etc) for the day on the watch. to be used only in case of serious issues.

The vivoactive 3 music is indeed a great watch. I also moved from Fitbit to Garmin, less "gimmicky" than fitbit and a great mobile/web app (Garmin Connect) with plenty of data, training etc... far better than fitbit indeed.
    Have fun with your watch.
